IISC Entrance Test 2016: Application, Admission Process

IISc (Indian Institute of Science, Banglore) conducts an exam every year for admission in various undergraduate courses offered by IISc. The IISc was established in 1909 IISc is the premier institute for advanced scientific and technological research and education in India. The exam is conducted in national level in all the major cities of India. IISc entrance test is an objective type test where four options are given for every question, and an interview for different courses available in the institute.

Application Form

For IISC Admission 2016 interested students can apply through the IISc website online. They need to read all the instructions carefully available in IISc website then fill the application form carefully, pay application fee as described in information bulletin, keep a copy of application for future reference.

Important Dates

  • Online Application starts: January 2016 (tentatively)
  • Online Application ends: March 2016
  • IISC Hall Ticket 2016 : 4th week of March
  • Admission Test: May 2016

PhD admission

Candidates can peruse PhD in Chemical Sciences Mathematical Science, Biological Sciences and Physical Sciences as a subject. Admission to the Integrated PhD Programmes will be through the Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM), followed by an interview for Physical Sciences and Mathematical Sciences. The selection for Chemical Sciences and  Biological Sciences will be based on JAM Score only.

Exam pattern

Exam pattern may vary as per the course of interest. Candidates who wish to take admission in PhD program have to give JAM exam.

Admission Process

For PhD program students will be taken as per their score in JAM exam. Selections for undergraduate program will be based on IT-JEE-Main (appearing in 2016 and securing a minimum of 60% for general ,54% for OBC, 30% for SC/ST/PH), IIT-JEE-Advanced (appearing in 2016 and securing a minimum of 60% for general, 54% OBC, 30% for SC/ST/PH, and AIPMT (appearing in 2016 and securing a minimum of 60% for general, 54% for OBC, 30% for SC/ST/PH candidates). Selection for ME/M.Tech/M Des program will be as per GATE 2016 score. Candidates are advised to go through IISc website for 2016 admission schedule.
